Stripe form disabled initially

Perplexed. My Stripe credit card form is visible but not editable upon initial load of the Checkout page. If you go ahead and choose Stripe as payment method and click Place Order button, the Checkout page will re-load, missing required fields error message is displayed up top and now the Stripe credit card form is enabled and credit card info can be entered???

I deactivated all the other plugins and swapped in the generic theme to confirm no conflicts there. Same results.

Baffled on why the Stripe credit card form would be disabled initially but then enabled after the Place Order button is clicked. If you leave the Checkout page altogether and return the issue is consistent. Would think if it was an API keys issue or something, the Stripe form would never enable. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Steps to reproduce…
1) Go to https://84cf7b8fa9.nxcli.io/product/moistheatpillow/
2) Click ‘Add to Cart’ button
3) Click ‘Proceed to checkout’ button
4) You will now be on Checkout page and the Stripe form is visible but disabled
5) Click ‘Place Order’ button and the page will reload, missing fields error message displayed, and now the Stripe form is enabled

If you go to another page and return to Checkout, the process will occur again.

Hi,

Can you please check again, but this time using a different theme? For example, you can switch the theme to Storefront. If the issue persists with Storefront, please provide a copy of your site’s System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.

Hi. The issue still exists even with the Storefront theme (which is now active). Also tried deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and Stripe... issue still exists.

Can you temporarily disable this plugin: Stripe Payment Plugin for WooCommerce: by WebToffee – 3.7.6? (This is a third party plugin), and make sure to enable the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway? Please check if the issue is present.

If it persists, please send a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if any error is visible).

I was checking the browser error console and it is displaying one error:

I understand that you mentioned plugins were disabled, trying to find a solution for the issue. The error in the console above would be an indication of a conflict. Can you please recheck the conflict test steps according to this documentation below, to see if that solves the issue?

OK. De-activated every plugin except WooCommerce and Stripe. Still seeing the same strange behavior with Stripe form enabled

Thanks for providing an update!

I have gone to your site and was able to replicate the issue you are referring to, as the Stripe credit card fields are not visible initially, however after clicking “Place Order”, the page refreshes and the credit card fields are visible:

I must also add that I am unable to reproduce this on my staging site, as the credit card fields display on initial load of the checkout page.

This being said, there may be a JavaScript conflict or issue with the way the Stripe Payment gateway extension is loading on the checkout page.

As a next step, can you please try purging your cache and see if this makes any difference?

object-cache.php: Redis Object Cache Drop-In

Also, it is possible that an object-cache can cause an issue like the one you are experiencing.

I understand that disabling the Redis object cache plugin has made no difference (as you have performed a full conflict test), so as a next step, can try accessing your FTP or cPanel and locate the wp-content folder, and check if there is object-cache.php.

If so, please try renaming this and then check if the issue is still present.

If the issue persists, can you please share more information on when you started noticing this exact behavior? Has it been a continuous issue, or is it a new issue and has Stripe worked without problems before?

Confirmed there is no object-cache.php currently there. Stripe had worked previously – for over a year. I did have a malware infection recently which has since been cleaned by Sucuri. Could something have been corrupted/messed up with confguration causing Stripe to not view SSL upon first page load or something? Baffled as to why it works but only after trying to submit the page/form once.

You also have these two database tables that are not using the database prefix.

I recommend deleteing and reinstalling both WooCommerce and Stripe for WooCommerce. This should regenerate the database tables and install any missing or altered files. Make sure to disable all plugins while doing so.

You can also reach out to your hosting service to check whether there are any useful server error logs, they might be able to help you debug the issue as well.

Hi. I deactivated and deleted both WooCommerce and Stripe Payment Gateway, re-installed but still seeing same issue. What exactly should I have hosting provider look for in the logs?

There isn’t an exact error we’re looking for, it all depends on your WordPress installation. : )

You can just ask them to dump the error logs from the day you started having this problem in a txt file or a Gist for us to check.

Also, it’s worth checking if this also happens on a local host installation. I use LocalWP for testing, here is a guide on how to move your whole site to a local installation.
