Hi Bernd,
The warning concerns the content of the iframe. Oddly, the page from the iframe won’t spawn errors when tested separately. Ecwid fully controls this data, not TSF.
Nevertheless, I cannot recommend using a shop inside an iframe for security reasons. Instead, I recommend adding an explanation about the book and a “read more” link to enter the store; perhaps even a direct “add to cart” link if Ecwid allows for that.
Thanks for the very fast reply! I’ll ask Ecwid … they offer a direct cart script, but it slows down the page with a lot of JavaScript that I cannot really delay – what I can do with the iframe. I’ll wait for their response and if they don’t have an idea I go back to the cart script.
Hi! This is Ecwid by Lightspeed Support team.
As I understand, you are concerned that Ecwid slows down your website when it’s embedded directly into your page via the widget/shortcode. Could you please share what tools you used for testing your site speed? Do you reproduce the slow loading issue visually as well?
If possible, please, share a link to the page where Ecwid is embedded directly (without iframe) so that we could check what affects the slow loading and see how it can be fixed. Thanks!
As for iframe, I should say that we don’t recommend embedding Ecwid into iframe due to the following limitations:
- The links are not updated: when you browse the store that has been put into an iframe, the URL doesn’t change, which negatively affects the website indexing — Google cannot fetch the URLs properly.
- The iframe containers are isolated from the rest of the page. So, if you add Ecwid widget and Shopping Bag widget into different iframes, the product browser won’t be able to update the shopping cart, as it basically won’t be able to detect the bag widget on the page.
It also may cause issues with the store display and design. Ecwid cannot control the behavior of iframes. That’s why we recommend adding Ecwid to WordPress via the plugin directly to WordPress pages.
As another option, you can use Ecwid Instant site as a platform for your store and link it to your WordPress site. Here’s the link to your Instant site: https://store26760173.company.site/.
Please, share more details about the slow loading issue you faced and we’ll check how it can be fixed. Thanks!
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hi and thanks for caring! I filed a support request (ID 2263598) to Ecwid support which is not answered yet – mentioning this only to prevent double work for you.
I will switch back from iframe anyway, but our site will be in a nationwide tv-show today, so that I have to prepare to prevent DOS, when they all rush in at the same time. May I contact you later? Which ticket?
