    Hi, I think that error is from something else, maybe the theme.

    Simple Author Box uses the correct schema, also with the free version, here is an example of its markup:

    Hello,

    Thanks for the feedback, I backed up the site and updated other plugins one by one (do this every 3 months, but was delayed this time around) and found out that it was Yoast.

    As soon as I updated that to the latest version, the error went away.
