Stuck at compressing

The job is always stuck at compressing . All time at 56%. Sometimes it jumps from 56% to 100% but when I see the log it still says” compressing this may take time”.And then when I go the dashboard on the admin bar it says Backwpup running. When I click it ,its still at 56%.
