    Hi everyone,

I’m having issues with a new site that is stuck on the setup loop. Right after I click on the “sign in with google” I choose my google account then it quicks me out to the WordPress login and then it’s back to the same page. The site was previously set up with another hosting.

I already tried to reset, reinstall the plugin, and use other Google accounts and the issue persists. Is it possible to reset my account on the Google side?

Hi @gaiatros thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear that you are having issues with setting this up. When you mention that you reset the plugin can I ask how you did this? Did you go to Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit? If you did not do it this way could you please first try this and let me know if that then makes any difference.

If you are still facing the issue then please could you provide the information below:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Are you prompted to grant access to services quested by Site Kit and do you grant all of these?
    3. Do you see any console errors when trying to set up the plugin?

    Hi Adam,
Thanks for your reply. About the reset, yes I used the Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit. I also tried to reinstall the plunging and even the whole site (it doesn’t have any content yet).

    Regarding the other questions:
    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
-I just submitted the form with my site health information
    2. Are you prompted to grant access to services quested by Site Kit and do you grant all of these?
-Yes I can see the screen that says “Site Kit already has some access
See the 6 services that Site Kit has some access to.” I have granted access to all of them but then after clicking on “continue” it just goes back to the WordPress login screen and from there it goes back to the initial page of Site Kit setup. I also tried to use another Gmail account and got the same results, also other sites that I set up over the last few days didn’t have this issue.
    3. Do you see any console errors when trying to set up the plugin?
-No errors during the set up

Let me know if you need any further information and thanks in advance for your help!

@gaiatros thanks for all the information which is all very helpful. Could you please confirm if you get the same result when trying the setup in an incognito window?

If you see the same happening then could you also confirm if you get the same outcome when deactivating all other plugins except for Site Kit and using a default theme?

@gaiatros Could I please also check with you what web browser you are currently using?

Thanks again for your reply Adam!

I tried using the incognito mode, same results.

    Default theme: same results

browser: Chrome – Version 101.0.4951.64 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I also tried Edge and Chrome on Android v101.0.4951.61 (just in case) but got the same results

@gaiatros thanks for trying everything and sorry to hear that hasn’t helped to identify the issue. Would it be possible to get a screen recording of your experience which will help us to see exactly how this happens? You can use a service such as Loom to to do this and share the URL here.

Hi Adam. Sorry but I don’t feel comfortable posting a public video with my emails and accounts. I have read multiple posts here and on other forums, where people mention Google can reset something on their end, and after that, it always gets fixed. Could you please confirm if there is anything you can reset on your end?

@gaiatros No problem I understand. In that case can I just check if your domain was the same as when you were using your previous hosting provider or have you since changed this?

If possible it would also be useful if you could provide the URL that you land back on after choosing your Google account and being looped back. This could help highlight the issue.

Before considering any sort of reset we need to identify the cause for this so all the information requested above will help towards this. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks Adam! The domain is the same. I also tried removing the SSL and changing it to just HTTP but got the same results.

After the Google login it just goes back to the default WP admin page: https://www.heywelcometoearth.com/wp-login.php
After login, I’m back on the dashboard page, this keeps repeating over and over, and it’s only on this site. I have been working on other sites on this same hosting and using the exact same setup, all of them work fine so far.

@gaiatros thanks for the extra insights and trying out some extra steps. Can I ask if you have at any point changed your admin path for this site? We have seen instances in the past where users have changed their admin path after their Google account has already been registered which can cause sign in loop issues.

Are you using the same Google account to sign in with on the other sites you’ve used on the same host which you say are working?

@gaiatros Could I please also ask you to try following the steps in this guide which may help to identify if there is a conflict that could be causing this.

The admin path is the same, also I’m using the same Google account for the other sites

I tried that guide before, no theme or plugins installed and got the same results

@gaiatros thank you for confirming. Is it possible to test this on another fresh WordPress install using the same host? If yes could you try a fresh new site with just the Site Kit plugin installed and try the set up once more using the same account.

Let me know how this goes for you.

I just tried another full reinstall and got the same results.

Is there anything you can help me reset on your side? all the cases that I see on this forum and on other websites mention support doing a reset on the account on their side.

@gaiatros thanks once more for trying this. Have you previously had your site without the www, as it could be mismatched on the Site Kit service. If not then it could also be that you may be accessing the wp-admin panel without the www, as your site URLs include the www.

I suggest that you try and change your site URLs to without the www and then try the setup once more if possible. Currently we are unable to reset this on our side which is why we need to take these steps which can hopefully resolve you issue.
