Stuck on "Updating Plugin"

    Trying to update my plugins and themes and the update seems to be stick on the swirly circle:

    The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

    Enabling Maintenance mode…

    Updating Plugin Contact Form 7 (1/1)

    I’m having the same problems when I update the themes. Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Problem fixed – for some reason php-zlib was missing. Reinstalled and now its working fine.
