• I’m very new to WordPress. Was initially building my site in the SiteGround provided staging area, was told that this wasn’t the correct way to do it, switched to building it directly in WordPress with a temporary domain and the issue that I’m having since making this switch is that my pages initially do show the styles option in the right panel (the half black, half white circle) but shortly after I start working on them that icon disappears and I no longer am able to access the custom css panel (apologies, I also can’t remember if that’s what it’s called anymore -maybe ‘additional css’?) Same with all additional pages added: the styles panel with the css field disappears. Hope someone can help.

Update: Just after posting this I went to find out how to remove the title from the page. After removing the title the styles panel reappeared. Now, having run into yet another issue (trying to remove a block of text and it’s telling me the theme or page won’t work if I remove it, however I also cannot edit it…) I decided to quit for the night. I saved and closed the page I was working on. Decided to check on something, went to the pages menu on my dashboard, opened the same page and none of the changes I made -starting from removing the page title- appear and once again the styles menu has disappeared.

Another update: why am I getting multiple versions of this page depending on where I click to open it? When I open it from my SiteGround dashboard I get this:

    https://rosiek12.sg-host.com/

I click ‘edit’ and it changes to this:

    https://rosiek12.sg-host.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_template&postId=twentytwentyfive%2F%2Fpage&canvas=edit

I open the templates and choose the option ‘no title’ and it finally brings me back to this version (which includes all the edits I’ve made so far):

    https://rosiek12.sg-host.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postId=twentytwentyfive%2F%2Fpage-no-title&postType=wp_template&canvas=edit

But then if I go back to my WordPress dashboard>all pages and select the same page to edit it opens to this:

    https://rosiek12.sg-host.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=2&action=edit

And on this page there is a paragraph with instructional text which I am not allowed to delete and not given the ability to edit?

I am so confused. Is this theme usable? I don’t understand why I can’t make it work. I feel like I’m understanding all of the tools, whenever I need to figure out how to do something I look it up and figure it out but somehow I keep ending up with multiple versions of the page even though I’m saving my changes as I go. I have already deleted the entire site and started over twice. I have found instructional pages for this theme but ofcourse none of them are mentioning the crazy problems I’m having.

    Hi
For any issues related to your hosting, you need to contact the hosting company.

About the page templates in Twenty Twenty-Five: The default page template and the “no title” page template are not the same.

I am not sure I understand the description correctly but it sounds like you have applied the “no title” page template to one page: not all pages.

It sounds like the default page template still shows the title, and you want to remove it.
The easiest way to remove the title from all pages is to edit the page template and delete the title block. Not the “no title” template.

And on this page there is a paragraph with instructional text which I am not allowed to delete and not given the ability to edit?

I don’t know what this message is.
Unfortunately there is no way to upload images here, only link to images.

I will try again: The destinction you need to make when you use any block theme, not only this theme, is wether you want to edit content or the design of the site including site header, site footer etc.

For content, always go to Posts or pages in the admin area.
For the site design always go to Appearance > Editor

That is why it is often called the “Site Editor”. Like in the URL’s you shared.
That is also why the label of the sidebar in Appearance > Editor is “Design”. It is not meant for editing content, its meant for designing.

You can edit pages, but not posts, under Appearance > Editor > Pages.
But because you have expressed that you found this confusing, I strongly recommend the first approach until you feel more comfortable.
