I would also really appreciate a way to style the simple form elements.
@pc1271,
how can I style the new subscribers form?
Try using our another free plugin Rainmaker to style your forms.
how can I differentiate my posts so that the subscribers only receive the posts they are interested in? I may be wrong, but I don’t see any new field in the post backend to indicate in which group this post will be sent to the subscriber.
You would need to create different Post Notifications for different groups to which your subscribers have subscribed. That way, when you will publish a new post, your subscribers will receive only that to which they have subscribed.

Hi,
Ok, it’s true that the Rainmaker plugin form looks a lot nicer than the Group Selector form. And since css selectors are in place, it’s even possible to style the form elements.
But you seem to overlook my goal for using Group Selector in the first place, which was to have a subscriber form where users can easily choose which type of posts they want to subscribe to.
So, switching over to Rainmaker doesn’t bring me any closer to my goal. Unless there’s a way to add the checkboxes for user groups just as in Group Selector.
Thanks for pointing me to the ‘Post Notifications’ settings where I can choose which post goes to which group of subscribers. I think I understand now how that works. It’s a pity that it’s still not possible to create a group without creating a new user. This means I have to create a dummy user every time I want to create a mail group.
But I’m left with a lot of extra questions now: what if a user who subscribed to different groups wants to unsubscribe for a certain group but keep their subscription for the other groups they are subscribed to?
And another question about the ‘Post Notifications’: when a user subscribes to different groups, will they only get a general e-mail telling them they are subscribed to a newsletter, or will they see also see to which groups they subscribed?
When inspecting the subscribers list in Email subscribers, it seems to me that a subscriber cannot be subscribed to different groups. If that’s the case, then what is the use of giving them to possibility to subscribe to different groups (which is why I want to use the Group Selector plugin). If it’s not possible to subscribe to different groups, Groups Selector should use radio buttons instead of checkboxes. That would make it obvious for the user that they can only choose 1 group.
Anyway, I still believe that Group Selector would better be integrated into Email Subscribers and it should be possible to have the possibility to subscribe to more than one group.
So, you see, solve a question and get more questions in return.
What extra integration with Email Subscriber comes with the PRO version of Rainmaker?

Not possible as of now.

You can write in their welcome email (Email Subscribers -> Settings -> Signup Confirmation -> Email Content for Welcome Email) as to which groups they are subscribed using {{GROUP}} keyword.

A subscriber can be subscribed to any number of groups possible. There is no restriction on the groups.

Wow! More than 5 months to reply and tell me it’s not possible.
That much was already clear to me and I’ll look at a different solution.
@pc1271 ,
We will try to incorporate this.
