  • Hi,

I added this functionality to the plugin.

Subforums on forums homepage get New tag when appropriate.

File bbpress-new-topics.php is available here. Just replace the file (after backing up the original) in current plugin installation. Note – I changed the version to 1.2.

    Best regards,
    Domenik

I replaced the ZIP file, because of additional changes:
    – move New tag 50px to the right when using BudyPress – because of avatars,
    – changed the query which gets the list of topics in a forum – it uses indexes more efficiently and it executes a lot faster where there is a large number of topics present.

To the author: it would be good, if you include my changes in the next version.

    Best regards,
    Domenik

    Hi DSmidge,

I can’t seem to get it working, still does not show “new” on my categorys in the root forum.

I am using bbpress 2.5.9 with wordpress 4.5.2, you know of any bugs regarding those?

aditionally do you have a proof of concept website? Might be that i have done something wrong πŸ™‚

Testing at the site playground.amplexus.dk/forums at the moment, same with standard and “youplay” theme.

    Hi,

I presume you have bbpress-new-topics plugin installed.
Did you updated bbpress-new-topics.php (with my file)?

    Best regards,
    Domenik

    Hi DSmidge,

Yes, i have the bbpress-new-topics plugin installed, with an overwrite of you zip file.

If you’re confident it works on your site still, i will try to find out why it fails on my end, do you have a “demo / live” site?

Just checked plugin list, and i get the right version number + the DSMidgy signature

    bbPress New Topics
    Deactivate | Edit | Delete

Displays a “new” label on topics that are unread or have unread replies for all keymasters, moderators and participants.

Theme is changed to standard, to make sure that it is not a theme specific error.

    Hi,

Yes I have a live site, but I don’t want you to make tests on it πŸ™‚
Good that you made me test this functionality, because I found a bug.

Try this procedure to get the NEW tag on root folders:
    1. Create 2 accounts on your forum.
    2. Log in with both accounts, with each one in different browser.
    3. Make a new comment with account 1.
    4. Account 2 should see a root folder in which the comment was made marked with NEW tag with red background.

Tell me how the test went. I can’t seem to find a way to PM you. To send you screenshots how the site (and HTML) should look like.

    Best Regards,
    Domenik

    Hi DSMidge,

I’ve tried that procedure, which did not seem to help.
You can Message [email protected] which i use for public purposes.

What was the bug you found?

    Hey Dsmidge,

I was wondering, the code you provided does not work with a hierachy of subforums larger than 3, so like.

    — root forum
    — subforum
    —- sub-subforum “does show”

Is this something you have been looking at?
