Not sure if this is a problem with the flexible subscription plugin or the Octolize flexible shipping plugin I’m using, but we offer free shipping over a certain order value which all works fine with non-subscription items / one-off purchases. However, if a customer makes a combined purchase that includes, say 2x non-subscription items and 1x subscription product, and the total order value is over the free shipping threshold, in the cart the free shipping is triggered, as it should be. The problem comes once that 1x subscription item is automatically ordered again by the flexible subscription plugin, even though that item on its own is less than the free shipping threshold, it continues to be reordered with free shipping applied.

Basically, if a customer buys a subscription along with other one-off purchases (or even multiple subscriptions at the same time which have different reoccurrence dates), the free shipping continues to be applied on every reoccurrence of that subscription item, even though the order value for that solo subscription order isn’t high enough on its own for free shipping.

The plugin seems to ignore the shipping rules on reoccurrence of the subscription and just repeats the free shipping of the original combined item order. How can I get around this and make the subscription reoccurrence recognise that shipping should be charged?

    Thanks

    Hi @sambacreative

    Thank you for contacting us.

Could you please provide a screenshot of the free shipping threshold settings in the Flexible Shipping plugin, as well as the subscription product settings in the Flexible Subscriptions plugin?

I would also appreciate it if you could let me know which versions of WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP, Flexible Subscriptions, and Flexible Shipping you are currently using.

Could you navigate to WooCommerce > Status > Logs and check if there are any errors related to the Flexible Subscriptions or Flexible Shipping plugin? If this is the case, could you send the error content in response to this message?

Hi, no problem. This was a test environment created with a backup copy of the site so there are only a couple of hours of logs, but they should have everything in relating to this issue as that’s what I was testing.

    Thanks

    Hi @sambacreative

    Thank you for your patience.

We are currently working on resolving the issue and have prepared a preliminary test version. I can send you a test package to try out — would you be interested?

If so, could you please reach out to us through our official support channel? That’s where I’ll be able to provide you with a link to the test package, as I’m unable to share it here.

    Hi,

That’s great news. Unfortunately your support channel won’t let me leave a message without being logged in and I can’t setup an account to log in with. No problem, I guess you will be pushing the update live at some point? I can update the plugin once it’s available.

    Thank you

Hi I tried the prelim test plugin you shared but unfortunately it also doesn’t work. You can add a subscription product to the basket but clicking the button to process the order at the shipping and billing address page only results in the page refreshing. The order doesn’t go through. If you remove the subscription product from the basket and just proceed with non-subscription products then the payment goes through as normal.

    Thanks

    Hi @sambacreative

Hi, thank you for your patience. We’re going to look into the issue, but at this point I can’t yet determine whether it’s a bug (in which case it would likely be resolved fairly quickly) or a feature request, which may take longer.

For now, I’m closing this thread, but rest assured—we’ll keep you updated once we know whether it’s being treated as a bug or a feature.

Hi, not sure why this issue is marked as resolved, as it still isn’t fixed. Tested it again over the last few days and the flexible subscription plugin still generates recurring subscriptions which use the shipping data from the originally created order, meaning that if the original order had multiple subscription and non subscription items in the basket that triggered free shipping above a certain quantity, the subsequent subscription order on its own would also get free shipping when automatically reorder even if the subscription item on its own wasn’t of enough value to trigger free shipping. This hasn’t been fixed in your 1.6.1 update or any update since then.
