Subscription Trialling Issue & Cancel Redirect

I went to purchase two of my products which has a 1 year trial period and then charges clients £xx.xx
Before completing the purchase in PayPal I used the cancel and return button (intentionally) at the bottom.
First Problem:
The redirect took me back to a purchase page which contained both items but wasn’t the original payment form, I know this because when creating the payment form I only require two email addresses and no billing address but the redirect page doesn’t use the payment form but a default form.
Second Problem:
I go to my subscriptions page and the subscription is shown even though it’s not “paid” (secured a funding source once trial ended), it’s Subscription Status is shown as Trialling.
The invoice shown as Pending Payment, this means it hasn’t got authorization for the next payment which we would like to have really.
If i test this on a non “Free Trial” product it comes up Pending in the subscription, is it possible to display Pending rather than Trialling or give option to choose?
I can see where both come in handy at times but the whole point of going to the checkout is not to then cancel at the checkout to get the Trial and commit to the terms.
Additional Idea:
Another thought is if a company wanted to trial a product for e.g. 1 month but then charge a fee onwards but not take any money / payment method upfront then the checkout could show continue instead of the gateways and a email reminder when approaching the next payment date if the client wanted to continue on the terms.
