Subscriptions to Comments Not working

There is a website that I visit where if you comment, you have a choice to subscribe to the comments of that blog to keep up with the topic but recently that link to “manage your subscriptions” automatically takes me to their website. I did email the blog owner and they have no idea what is going on. Can anyone explain what it is I have to do to control this or should I just use another method and just have them deleted. I can’t afford all the mail I get these days, fills the mailbox too quick. Thanks in advance.
