Hi, I am trying to figure out how to make coupons that have fixed dollar value and discount from the subtotal. For example, a person has a cart subtotal of $50.00 and a $10.00 coupon. The coupon would make the subtotal $40.00. All the coupons I have tried apply to every product in the cart but I want one for the subtotal. Not a percentage, but a fixed amount by the way. How can I accomplish this? Thanks

  • Hi @jsham91,

Greetings and thanks for your question! 🙂

There’s not an “out of the box” way I can see to accomplish that but the thing is, if you use a coupon to discount the whole order, a buyer could still get around that by creating multiple orders and using the coupon with each.

Did you have some idea in mind for restricting the use of coupons to only once per user?

    Cheers,
    David

    Hi David,
Yes I was going to create one time use coupons for each user. I am using a reward point plugin called MyCred to create individual coupons by exchanging reward points. Then the coupon is used once to discount the cart. If I could make that type of coupon available for use with MyCred it would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jordan

    Hi Jordan,

    Thank you for your reply.

The following shortcode that coverts myCRED Points into MarketPress Coupon may help you to achieve it.

    Hi David,
I have tried that short code and even discussed it with myCreds plugin creator and tried to figure out why it would still apply the coupon to each product rather than the subtotal. He said it was a MarketPress issue. Is there some way to add subtotal fixed dollar discount coupons?
    Thanks,
    Jordan

    Hi @jsham91,

Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, there’s not a way to discount the full cart at once (the sub-total) currently. Not without extensive custom code.

I understand how helpful that sort of coupon feature would be and while we wouldn’t be able to add that right now since the plugin’s currently in the process of a massive update, we could take a look at possibly implementing that once the update’s out.

Sorry we’re unable to provide a feature like that currently. We’ll do our best to assist with any further questions on this.

    Cheers,
    David
