When we are trying to scan our website with Sucuri Security we keep receiving this error message.

Sucuri: Something went wrong with an API call (unknown action): error:14094410:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert handshake failure

We have the most up-to-date version of Sucuri Security.
We have contacted our hosting provider and they have told us to contact Sucuri Sercurity. Since we do no have an account with them (because we use the free plugin) we have been asked to post any questions on the forum.

    Can some please help?

Did not you posted the same question here [1]?

To summarize my response in that thread I recommended you to go to the plugin’ settings page and change the value of the option “API request with SSL” to “Stop peer’s cert verification” which will force the plugin to send all the HTTP requests without verify the SSL certificates.

I told you to contact your hosting provider because the solution that I am recommending you is only for the Sucuri WordPress plugin, if you want to have a real fix for this issue your hosting provider has to upgrade the version of OpenSSL installed in the server where your website is being hosted.

If the support team of your hosting provider redirected you to this forum (again) even when I have explained (in the other thread) what the issue is and how to resolve it, then they either they do not have an idea of what SSL3 is, or they just did not want to help you.

Anyway, you can contact me at [deleted] (email deleted to reduce spam) if you have more questions or if you need personal assistance of how to resolve this issue following the first recommendation that I gave you (and in case that your hosting provider does not wants to help you).
