What error are you encountering when you try to upload?
The error reads: The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2020/07.
And to add maybe: Other people mentioned the same type of error where something had gone wrong when wordpress made the new uploads folder for the new month.
The only thing is that I actually have uploaded things to this folder without issue on july 1st. My problems started on july 2nd, so I don’t understand what has gone wrong, or rather when it has gone wrong. But it does seem to be about this folder because another thing I have tested is if it maybe was a server/hosting problem, but it doesn’t seem to be. Using filezilla I have uploaded a test file to every folder up untill wp-content/uploads/2020/07 and it only did’nt work in the folder called “07”. At that point filezilla gave an error as well.
Upload to “wp-content” – fine
Upload to “wp-content/uploads” – fine
Upload to “wp-content/uploads/2020” – fine
Upload to “wp-content/uploads/2020/07” – Fout: Fatale bestandsoverdrachtfout (which is dutch for fatal Fatal file transfer error)
I am still able to upload files to the june folder (wp-content/uploads/2020/06) but those files don’t appear in my wordpress media library, so that’s no use.
Ok, if you can’t do it via FTP either, then the problem isn’t WordPress.
Make sure that permissions on the directory are 755 or 777. If there’s no change with either of those, I recommend contacting your hosting provider’s support.
I have the same problem, I tried changing permission to 777, 767 and 755 but I still have the same problem.
As I mentioned above, “if there’s no change with either of those, I recommend contacting your hosting provider’s support.”
Thank you! I contacted the hosting provider and they changed the permissions on the folder and immediatly all problems were resolved and stayed like that for the last few weeks. The month is almost up tho, so I’m curious to see if August will return this problem. 🙂
But thanks for the help!! If it does return I now know who to turn too.
