suddenly lost menu sections navigation

I was trying to customize the front page with some of my code but somewhere in the middle I realized that it made the menu sections disappear both on the menu page and the main page.

I mean the navigations not the actual menu content.
I tried to reset to all that was before I was playing with it but its not working.

I am not sure what I did to do this.
