Hi,
I agree with your first suggestion. I think it would make the most sense to have a weekday option for the Feb 9 2014, and February 9, 2014 date format options. Do you agree?
Regarding your second suggestion about translation, I’ll have to think about the best way to implement that. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as just adding support for WordPress internationalization, because the text for the widget itself isn’t actually controlled by WordPress (or rather PHP); it’s controlled using Javascript. So that may take me a bit of time to work through.
Thx.
Good day!
I want to remind about the day of the week in the date format Feb 9 2014, and February 9, 2014.
Hi Natali,
I had actually started to work on this a few weeks back, but then began to question the wisdom of this approach.
I don’t think that the date format should be set by the plugin at all. I think it would be better to show a localized date to the user, depending on where they are located in the world. So if someone is in the UK, for example, they would see the date in a different format than someone in the US.
Because this new approach is more complicated than just adding a new item to a drop-down, I’ve had to put it on the back burner for now, but hope to get to it within a month or so.
Thanks.
Hi Donna,
Personally, I need only one date format – long. And to me there is not enough day of the week. Maybe you tell that need to insert in widget.js? String $ date.text I will write itself. I anyway already it remade in accordance with the rules of the Russian language.
Thanks.
