Hi hommealone,
Thanks for using our theme. With regard to your question, Unfortunately, we don’t recommend removing codes from the customizer. In this case, I would suggest using the third party plugins and creating a child theme for the theme. Instead of removing codes that would cause more problem and issues in the future updates.
Sorry that I was not more clear: I am not using your theme as the installed active theme in our website; I do not use a child theme either. I have forked your theme, or more accurately, used a lot of it to create a custom theme of our own.
(I keep your theme as one of the installed, inactive themes so that when it is updated, I can take a look at what was changed and see if I should incorporate the changes into our own theme at that time.)
We do not use the customizer, and any further changes will all be done using the stylesheet. As far as I can tell, anything that relies on the default choice in the customizer has already been overridden in our own stylesheet, and if I remove all customizer code and that requires writing some additional custom code to replace it, I’d be happy to do that. And since we do not use the customizer, it seems like most of the code in the theme that relates to it is just bloating the theme unnecessarily.
Hence my original question: I’d like to remove as much of the code regarding the Customizer as possible. Any suggestions or tips on how to proceed would be appreciated.
Hi hommealone,
