Last year, my wptouch.com plugin that provides my mobile website had a very serious error that kept me out of the plugin’s settings panel. It took many emails from me and months for them to fix the error. When they fixed it, they installed the Classic Widgets plugin that had been used before the Gutenberg block-based widget editor, taking away the Gutenberg block-based widget editor that had been installed in WordPress 5.8. I had used it before and had been happy with it, so I let things stand as they were. I also don’t know why they added the Classic Widgets plugin.

Now, the Classic Widgets plugin is having problems showing my Instagram feed. After another round of emails with WPtouch and then Smash Balloon, the provider of my Instagram Feed, Smash Balloon says I should use the Gutenberg block-based widget editor.

Before I uninstall the Classic Widget plugin, I want to make sure I know what to do to continue to have widgets so that I can display my Instagram Feed, Pinterest feed, Google AdSense ads, recent posts, archives, search, and my subscribe to my posts from my another plugin.

How do I get the Gutenberg block-based widget editor back and keep all of my widget information?

    Thanks for your help.

Deactivating the Classic Widgets plugin will return you to WordPress’s block-based widgets.

For the most part, existing classic widgets should be converted to blocks, but you may need to re-build some.

If you’d like to manually make a backup of your site first, please follow the steps at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/documentation/article/wordpress-backups/

Hello, I just disabled the “Classic Widgets” plugin. But now when I go to appearance > widgets, the block based Widget editor does not show up. Instead, I have the good old classic widget page. What should I do?

Ok I found the problem, I had to go to dashboard > Customizing > Utilities > Enable block widget support
