• I’m transferring a client’s site from Windows to Linux hosting. I’ve searched and can’t find what lines of code I need to edit to solve the error(s) I’m getting. If you go to:

    rebeccadavidsonextremecouponing.com

You’ll see that the home page (which should be sidebar/content/sidebar) has missing links on the left hand side, along with a LOT of Fatal Errors on the Buddypress pages.

Sorry if this is novice, but I haven’t done a Windows to Linux switch before, let alone one with Buddypress.

She has a lot of users signed up, and doesn’t want to forfeit those. I deactivated/reactivated Buddypress, but didn’t uninstall it because of this. Is all hope lost? Am I going to have to lose all those members?

  • You are using BuddyPress plugin version 1.2.8 at present, with wordpress version 3.2 ( /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/readme.txt )

See if this information helps solve any of the BuddyPress issues. Maybe that will give you a push in the right direction.

It does prompt me to update Buddypress, but I’m terrified that all the members will be erased?

I should think that information is stored in your database, not your files. But, certainly don’t do anything until you are completely backed-up (database and files) and confidant in your decision.

As ClaytonJames said, back up your database and server files before proceeding. Then run Settings > Permalinks without the /index.php/ required for WP installs running in Windows to get pretty permalinks. Check your .htaccess files aftewards.

It turns out that it was the “Forum Attachments” plugin that broke a lot of the pages.
