• Hi,

I registered my wordpress.com blog dropofwhimsy.wordpress.com a few weeks ago, and this morning I upgraded to dropofwhimsy.com from my dashboard. I realised too late that I was on wordpress.com and not ww.wp.xz.cn. So now, despite having paid hosting for dropofwhimsy.com, and having installed the wordpress software to that domain, I’m still stuck on wordpress.com, which means I can’t upload the nice, professional theme that I bought from a third party website.

I’d like to delete my dropofwhimsy.wordpress.com blog, and to get dropofwhimsy.com off of wordpress.com. I know I bought the upgrade from here, but I should be able to take the domain name somewhere else. How can I get back the rights to modify the site I paid for?

  • You need to contact the folks at wordpress.com.

I’ve done that, but given the support is down until Tuesday morning, I’m not having a lot of luck.

I’m sorry but there’s nothing we can do here to help. You’ll just have to be patient, I’m afraid.

Thanks for your reply anyway. I’m trying to understand everything – nameservers, who’s in charge of what, etc…
Thank goodness my hosting provider and people on both ww.wp.xz.cn. and wordpress.com forums are being really helpful and giving me pointers.
