Switching Site Problems

I have two wordpress websites One new and one that was existing but we are changing the site completely. I also switched hosting. The hosting is switched I installed the new wordpress and uploaded the new theme via ftp. I’ve changed the wp-config file to reflect the new database. The databas in phpmyadmin is shows no tables. When I log into the wp-admin dashboard of the url – it shows the old site files it doesn’t show the new theme or anything. Basically when you log into domain.wp-admin it still sees the old stuff and none of the new. I’m confused as to what is going on and how it is seeing the old database stuff when it is not in the ftp files.
