Hi @nogun
Thanks for using the plugin. Can you explain how you would like this to work? There is one tag, but it can use different names?

Sure, thanks.
I have users with name differently like Steve Burge and Burge Steve (hungarian names are in different order, but in english text differ from hungarian text) but means the same person. I would like to handle it right and NOT change replace all over the texts.

Sometimes we have artistic names and pointing to the same person.
Thanks
So the approach in my first reply would work? There is one tag, but it can use different names?
Thanks @nogun. We’ve opened a feature request issue for this.
Just wanted to chime in on this and say that for the last 2 months this feature is what I’ve been desperately trying to search for.
I currently do use Simple Tags, but this would make tag functionality 10x more useful, as I can group multiple terms into the same tag. This would be very useful for both regular blog posts as well as forum topics.
e.g. if the tag is “exam day experience”, some of the keywords could be:
• exam center
• exam centers
• exam day
• proctor
• proctors

Thanks @zee300
We’ve just taken over running the plugin (new name, website etc), so we’re learning and listening to requests like this.
Would you want the synonym feature only for Auto-links? Or would apply to the whole Tags system?
I’m not sure how it would apply to the whole Tags system. Maybe I’m not understanding it right.
I did notice your Taxopress rebrand!
Originally when I downloaded Simple Tags, my understanding of the feature was that it would assign tags based on the text in the post matching some keywords, rather than just the one exactly matching it. In other words:
Ideally, if any of these words are found in a post it should e.g. generate an ‘oranges’ tag, rather than three separate tags:
- orange
- oranges
- clementines
This would be useful as an automatic feature for both regular posts and bbPress topic tags. I run an educational forum so this feature could really help build a useful glossary for users.
Hope that clarifies.
thanks @zee300. It sounds like you’re using the Auto Tags feature?
We’re going to work on this feature here: https://github.com/TaxoPress/taxopress/issues/174
We may need to do gather some more feedback / requirements
Awesome! Please let me know if I can help in any way.
