• I was watching a Lynda.com WordPress tutorial that showed “ratings” and “polls” in the left side bar of the WordPress dashboard. I thought they looked like a good addition to my blog, so I tried to install them as plug-ins. The plug-ins existed and got high ratings. But when I tried to install them to my WordPress site, I got the following error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /hermes/bosweb/web000/b0/sl.tractive/public_html/activetravel/wp-content/plugins/rating-widget/rating-widget.php on line 29

I got a similar error message for both the polls (PollDaddy) & ratings widgets. Does anyone know why I got this message & how I can get these widgets installed onto my site?
