Frequently several elements in my website change:
    – Header: My Google analytics tag disappears
    – Footer: the “Powered by Sydney” comes back after changing this
    – Customized CSS & Functions disappears (e.g. Out of Stock tag,…)

I use the parent theme, but after some research switching to the child theme might solve this problem? However, if I do this, will my website change the way how it looks, works (settings, content, customizations will be gone)?

Can you help me with this issue?

    Thanks in advance!

  • You are exactly correct.. The reason your site changes is because you made code changes to the theme. If you go PRO and get the child theme, then put all your changes into the child theme, then when there is an update to the theme itself it will not affect your child theme changes.

If you continue to use the Parent theme and not go PRO you are going to have to replace every change you manually make to the theme each time the theme gets updated.

The first time you change to the Pro theme, the site will revert back to the way it was before you used the theme editor and changed things. So, yes you will lose your settings, but if you make those same changes to your child theme before activating the PRO theme then you should see little difference. Just try and make those modifications to the child theme if you can remember them all.. Fix it over time.

The child theme is definitely the way to go to make sure your website is unaffected by future updates to the Parent/Pro theme. The Child theme is only included in the PRO version, so don’t think of your current theme as the Child theme. You are using the Free Theme.
