Tab content disappeared

I have seen this happen to other posters and it is listed as resolved, but I do not know what the resolution was or how to prevent it.

Our organization website has several pages that use the Tabs Responsive plug-in. We have created 5 sets of tabs. On three separate occasions in the last year, one of the tabs has complete lost content. The tab name still appears, but when we click to edit, there are no tabs or content, just a php error. The first time this happened, we thought we had accidentally deleted all of the tabs (there is a button for that). Now it just happened to one of our tabs that we had not opened or edited in a while.

Our solution was to recreate the tab, but this is obviously not optimal. (In one instance, we just restored a backup, but this time there were too many other edits to override). Does anyone know what causes this or where to find a backup of the content?
