Hello, Tobias. Embedding TablePress tables into a page or post is a breeze but is there any way to include a permalink to the table itself? Essentially, what you have as a Preview, but public-facing? Am I making SENSE? Thanks!

    Hi,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

No, sorry, that’s not possible, or at least I don’t see a way. Tables don’t have a public-facing view until they are embedded into a post or page.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Understood. Thanks for the quick response. *crosses fingers for future implementation*

    Hi,

no problem, you are very welcome!
I can’t really make hopes here for a future implementation, as I don’t really see the use case for this.
What are you trying to achieve with such a permalink?

Shareable data chunks. It’d be great to be able to point someone directly to a specific table and not have them scroll down through a bunch of content to see it on its embedded page. Thinking there’s a CPT solution but not sure how/if it could interact with your plugin in its current form.

    Hi,

ok, but how would that table be styled? And would it use the DataTables JS library’s features? What about interaction with TablePress Extensions?
See, there are quite a few open questions that would have to be answered there, so that just creating a WordPress page (which could e.g. use a very simple/minimalistic page template from the theme) is probably the best approach here.

Oh, I was thinking it would still be displayed in a page template, albeit a minimal one, defined by the theme. Just the table, a little branding, and a nice, clean permalink. “website.com/tables/best-tacos” or some such.

    Hi,

yeah, that’s also what I had in mind above, but I think this would be best solved on a custom per-site basis, using created pages with such a page template.
