Hi,
thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.
The reason for this is that the DataTables JS library needs the table to be visible, in order to calculate its width. My suggestion to resolve this would therefore be to uncheck the “Use DataTables checkbox for these tables, as you are not using the individual features anways.

Tobias
But the issue with that is, if I unchecked it, on mobile version, the table would extend out beyond the containers…I’d like to keep it scrollable when on mobile…
For some reason it works for one table under the same tab, but the same tables copied over to the second tab don’t work.
Hi,
it will work on the tab that is shown initially, but not on the tabs that are initially hidden.
For the horizontal scrolling, you could switch to an alternative approach, that does not use the DataTables JS library: https://tablepress.org/extensions/responsive-tables/

I tried unchecking the box for Use Datatables and I installed the extension but that didn’t work either. On mobile, the size chart extended beyond the container.
Hi,
did you also adjust the Shortcodes? You’ll have to add responsive=scroll there. That doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment, right?

Tobias
How can you create tabs in tabs ? ( maybe a stupid question?)
Hi turkijefm,
sorry, that’s something that you’ll have to ask the developers of the tabs plugin that you want to use.

Tobias
Ah! When I read the directions to the plugin I thought I was supposed to write “responsive=<scroll>” It was the <> that made it not work. It works now! I saw that it was a premium extension, so I’ll go and make a donation tomorrow! Thanks a lot!
Hi,
yeah, the < and > might be misleading there. I should probably change that.
Good to hear that it’s working now! 🙂 And thanks for wanting to donate, I really appreciate it!
Best wishes,
Tobias
P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
