I do not see this in your plugin and would recommend highly you add support for this.

As with FB their secret sauce is tag linkage between pages and content. I have tags on all my pages and blogs and link topics together with tags. I find it hard to manage the tag linkage intelligently in terms of knowing from the tag perspective to which resources the tags are linked to. Then topic linkage it would be a great help if you had reports and also linkage intelligence to streamline topic follow. Also to know how my tags are distributed to facilitate even loading would be great.

    Hi @thecatim

Thanks for the ideas. I’m not quite following all the requests here.

You might want to check out the Auto Links feature:

The auto tag would not work.

    Here is the problem:
We have 100 posts and 50 pages that have a common tag tax. We have about 200 tags.

We create a new blog twice a month and assign <10 tags each.

Our objective for assigning tags to posts & pages is to do what Facebook does….to keep visitors on the site longer by cross-linking tags as much as possible so a visitor can follow the ever-expanding topic that the tag path presents.

Currently, the way we do it is to create a new post, go through 200 tags that we can select by checking similar posts and reading through the tag list. Our tag list can be sorted in various ways such as usage so we try and allocate the lowest used tags first. We then do a screen through similar posts that it should be linked to but might not and update the tags that it does.

This is a very cumbersome way of doing it but the only way to increase our blog consumption. There are no plugins we can find that even reports on how taxonomy is allocated or even used. Our search bar tool tells us what people search for but it is hard to figure out which tags get searched for.

So my idea revolves around the tag (or tax) perspective to report and also manually assign tags assisted smartly with suggestions by a plugin.

If you look at the Related posts section almost at the bottom of our posts below then you can see the plugin that looks at the content of our post and finds other posts that are similar. It seems to work however this would be the hard way…so tags would be the way to go as at least I could sway it. My real problem is it is impossible for me to see the full context of so many tags & blogs & pages together…by for software it is easy. We use the tag grouping plugin that helps a bit that you can see on our blog homepage.

I think there is a huge opportunity for you to do smart tax management as many companies are changing their focus back from FB to their own site blogs due to privacy concerns. I am a software developer so this would be a very feasible thing however plugins is not our area of expertise.

Hi @thecatim. Sorry, I’m still not 100% clear on what your feature request is exactly.

You might want to check out the Suggested Terms feature:

Ok a lot of text I wrote in hindsight not a good idea I realise…

    The problem:
I need linkage between posts and pages as per topic the user could follow
I use tags for this purpose
Once the user enters from any point to any of our content then there must be a related tag at the bottom of any post/page (we have this)
Our problem is assigning these tags and knowing what is assigned to what.

    Solving the problem:
Plugins can see patterns in already assigned content and when I create new content it must show me these prior assignments as suggestions of what to assign to the content I create.
The plugin should also report how tags are assigned according to patterned assigning or even usage numbers. I have our tag list for example sorted so I can see zero usage of tag and either delete the tag or assign something to the low used ones.
There are many plugins that show which tags are assigned to what content but none that show from the tag perspective of how it is used.
As you do tag plugins I would think this would be a great feature to help authors assign their tags more effectively?

Also, I do not see the suggested terms section….there is no enable for this at the top of the page elements? This item of suggested terms is not in the menu however all your other menu items are there?

Just to let you know my Taxopress is 3.5.1 however your help screens look very different than my taxopress setting pages? I do not have the Suggested Terms item in the menu or even the element in the page bottom
