• I really miss the tag surfer option from wordpress. Is there such a plugin I can install which does a similar thing?
My search so far has been fruitless 🙁

  • What’s a “tag surfer option” actually do if not hosted at WP?

How does it differ from, say, Ultimate Tag Warrior?

The tag surfer I mean is when you have a blog at wordpress.com go to tag surfer and you can see related posts on other people’s blogs dependant on your choice of categories. So I could choose xbox and it will list all the latest xbox posts.

my guess is thats pulling a query out of the db to provide those related posts. I fail to see how anything like that might be done on self hosted blogs. And anyway, isnt that what technoraiti does?

Forgot to mention, its a function via the dashboard, not a plugin for the sidebar.

So to be clear: You want folks to click on tags at your blog and go to other folks blogs?

That’s how technorati tags work (and UTW will generate those links if desired).

No sorry. on wordpress.com blogs in the dashboard is tag surfer link. If I click on it it lists all the latest blog posts in categories that I stipulate.
So I can read only xbox new posts or software or whatever.

Its really handy for keeping up with the latest wordpress posts for my subjects.

Gotcha. Kinda. Not sure if there are any plugins for that (none that I’ve stumbled over) but here are a couple of sites that may help?

Actually I jsut found the technorati watchlist. I reckon that would do it. And the bonus is that its not just wordpress blogs.
Thanks very much for your help Handysolo 🙂

Ah, that reminds me. I know a few bloggers that swear by google alerts: http://www.google.com/alerts

I’ve not messed with it much, but figured I’d bring it up.

Thanks. I just had a look at Google alerts and it seems to be really for news only?
I quite like the technorati one. Would like it to display more than 3 items before having to click on more though.
