I’m using this plugin to reorder custom post types and taxonomies. Everything is working as intended for the custom posts, but when trying to reorder custom taxonomies, it doesn’t seem to save after I’ve click / dragged a taxonomy into a new position. I’ve found a workaround that fixes this problem – if I move a taxonomy, and then perform any other back-end update (renaming the slug, for example) then it saves properly and works as intended. If I don’t do this, it won’t save. It seems that unless I perform another back-end update, my re-ordering is only temporary and isn’t saved when I reload the page.

I’m using Simple Custom Post Order v2.4.7 and WordPRess 5.3 I’ve tried disabling all other plugins and reverting to a default theme and this issues persists in all cases.

  • Hello @sburtis,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the order.
I just double checked this on my end and it seems to be working to move the categories/tags around.
Can you please try again following my instructions below:
    1. Go to your dashboard > Settings > SCPOrder > choose under ‘Check to Sort Taxonomies’ > the ones you want to be able to order > save.

    2. Go to that taxonomy page > and order them.
It should save them automatically in the order you want.

    Thank you,

I was always able to re-order the categories, but my problem was that they wouldn’t save. When I reload the page, they’d revert to the previous position.

Regardless, I tried testing this on a different environment and couldn’t reproduce the problem. Even when reverting to a generic theme and disabling all other plugins, I couldn’t eliminate this problem in my current environment. There seems to be some problem within the site, somewhere that I can’t pinpoint.

I’ll consider this resolved since I can’t reproduce this error elsewhere. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for letting me know, @sburtis!
