Templates vs Emails

When I create a newsletter template and save it to my templates it appears in my all emails list as not yet sent. To reduce clutter I would rather not see it there (except for the ones I’ve sent, obviously) so I would like to delete it from that list and only show emails that are actually sent. I just want to make sure it doesn’t get removed from my templates.
I tried deleting a saved test template from email and it still appears in the template list but just wanted to make sure that was by design and not because something had not updated yet. In other words, don’t want to come back later and find it actually was removed.
