My theme name in style.css is Sky (ie. Theme Name: Sky).
My theme folder name is “xyz_sky”.

    Reason to add xyz_ prefix:
I have added the xyz_ so that there is no any conflict with the other themes. The theme name is quite common, so if there will be any other theme with same name “sky” on ww.wp.xz.cn, then wordpress will give false notification to my theme users that the update is available, because of the same name.

    Problem:
WARNING: Your theme appears to be in the wrong directory for the theme name. The directory name must match the slug of the theme. This theme’s correct slug and text-domain is sky.

I am already using the text-domain sky. So how can I solve this problem? I do not want to change the name in the style.css file to xyz_sky as it will look ugly.

Theme check checks against the requirements for hosting a theme here on ww.wp.xz.cn. If you submitted a theme named “Sky”, then its folder name would be “sky”, and that would not be changeable by you.

If you’re not submitting your theme to .org, you don’t need to worry about that message.
