Background. I merged two other blogs into onceagreenberet.com. That came off with no problems in the merged blogs but in the main blog I ended up with the old black diamond ?. With only 46 posts I decided to just edit them out.

When I open the post in the editor it is blank. The post is there on the live site but won’t show in either window of the text editor. Only the title shows.
The revisions are there but will not restore.

    Using 2014 with no plugins.

How did you merge them? DB merge or export/import?

Are you getting any error in the browser console when you load the editor?

export/import No error messages. On occurred on the original 46 posts. Works as expected on new or the imported posts.I can copy the post and paste into the editor and save it and then it is back.

If you have black diamonds appearing in your post content then it’s most likely a database character encoding problem.

Can you check the database collation for both your merged blogs? Were they different?

If you’re using phpMyAdmin, the database collation can be found on the ‘Operations’ tab of each database.

That is what I thought also but they were all utf-8. The encoding problem is like the blank post editor screen. It only occurs in the 46 posts of the original blog.

I can fix it pretty easily. Just didn’t what it to be a problem with 4.2.
    Most likely operator error :^)

That makes sense. I bet on the original blog the DB Charset in your wp-config was blank.

I’ve discovered I have the same problem for one of my clients. Can this be fixed without having to do each one manually? I’ve found I can copy the HTML that is output on the page and past that into the editor but there are a lot of posts from the past that need to be fixed. Also, not all of them are messed up. Its kind of hit and miss.
