• After the 4.0 version update, none of the tools on the text editor are working. The “add media” button is now over the tools, and actually covering the first 3 buttons. I deactivated all plugins, still the same problem. I’ve included a link to a screenshot.

None of the tools are even clickable.

That’s very odd. Did you definitely try deactivating *all* plugins?

If so, try switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Also, please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, and a theme switch still didn’t fix it, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Yes, all plugins are deactivated when testing. I switched to twenty 12, no help. Tried both firefox and chrome, same thing is happening.

Did you try both Firefox and Chrome with your cache and cookies cleared and extensions disabled? Which versions of Firefox and Chrome?

Cleared cache and cookies on both firefox and chrome. I’m running the latest version of both, I just checked. The each have different extensions, so that couldn’t be the problem.

Do a manual reinstall of WP. That really sounds like a cache problem I had recently when testing.

Ok, but did you try with the extensions disabled. Really, there’s a reason why I ask these questions, I’m not trying to waste your time.

If disabling all of your extensions makes no difference, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
