Hi, the button uses an image that is hosted on the Skype servers and this will remain the same. Nothing can be done about that.
What changes are the texts used. When you selected an image button, the alt texts. When you selected a text button, the text.

I am sorry but I do not understand what you are saying. What is the purpose of {chat}?
I am content with the image – however, I want to change the text within the image.
If I can use an alternative image with the desired text, please explain how this is done.

Under the advanced options you will find the Template field. There you can see where {chat} is used. And you will also be able to see where the image comes from.
Now if you go back up to the Theme option, you can select “Custom…” there. Now save and then go to that Template field at the bottom.
You can now edit the template and change the image URL to point to a custom image of your own.

I have also been trying to resolve this. So am I to understand that without using a custom image, the text in the buttons cannot be changed? In that case, what is the purpose of the “Tag texts”?
Tag texts are the texts that replace the corresponding {tag} in the templates. Not text that is used in images. To change an image, you’ll need to (1) create and upload your own image and (2) switch to the “Custom” template and change the image URL there.
