• I have a strange issue, which is happening to two of my websites.

If I log in and work with the visual block editor, any text I highlight with my mouse doesn’t highlight in blue. It appears as if it wasn’t selected. However, I know it has been because if I copy it and paste it, the chunk of text I selected copies. So it doesn’t display the selection in blue. Rather transparent.

If I switch to the code editor, I can select any text I want and it displays it in blue. So it is only an issue with the visual editor.

I thought this might be a Chrome issue but the same happens with Edge. My websites aren’t using the latest WordPress – one is 6.1.1 and the other is 6.6. But it happens in both.

This is driving me crazy. Can anyone suggest how to go about fixing this?

    Thank you in advance.

I’ve heard about it before, but I can’t reproduce it myself. According to the reports I’ve read, it’s due to Chrome. Edge is based on Chrome, so it behaves in exactly the same way.

I see 2 possibilities for you to narrow down the cause:

    • Try using a completely different browser that is not Chrome-based, e.g. Firefox.
    • Change the theme – maybe this is also responsible for this design.
