The Text tab is the HTML editor, it was renamed quite a few versions back.
Would you please describe how exactly it isn’t working?

Thanks for your reply, When i click it , it remains grey and does not toggle to the editor. I hope that helps, i tried to add an image in my blog and sharing the link but seems like the add media button is not working as well. I have added the file to my library and here is the link,

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.
If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Hi James!
Thanks a ton for your help! I changed the theme and deactivated the plugins, it worked initially then when i later logged in does not work 🙁 I tried to logout and login a couple of times and still its the same.

It worked, but i am guessing its some sort of glitch that wordpress has to look into. If i have to stick on to twentyFifteen will i have any option to make the theme look betteR? Sorry to ask some very basic questions.
Ok, so it works just fine when you use the Twenty Fifteen theme?
If so, what is the name of the theme that was causing the problem?

Yes, it works in twenty fifteen. The name of the theme that dint work was mahal
Ok, the issue would have to be a function in the theme conflicting with the editor then.
I recommend asking at https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/theme/mahal#postform so the theme’s developers and support community can help you with this.
