The “category” filter doesn’t work.

WordPress media library items don’t support categories or tags by default. These taxonomies only work with posts, pages, and custom post types. When you try to select categories for photos in your WordPress media gallery, you’ll notice the category filter is disabled.

The media library (including images and videos) lacks built-in taxonomy support. Visual Portfolio’s documentation confirms that taxonomies cannot be applied to images directly.
You have two options:

1. Create custom categories within each image for use in your gallery
2. Switch to displaying custom posts, where taxonomies will work properly if they’re connected to your chosen post types
