The dreaded capital “A” bug is back! This has been a problem for years and I’ve either had to change fonts or stop using the plugin altogether. For those who are not familiar with the issue, certain fonts will display the capital “A” incorrectly (the horizontal bar of the letter is disconnected). In this case, I’m using the Montserrat font. This plugin really does a great job and I appreciate the author’s hard work and efforts but this issue has become a deal breaker. What’s the fix?

The broken capital A issue was a bug present in the Google Webfonts Helper, which isn’t part of OMGF anymore since V5.3.x.

Since which version are you having this issue? Can you share screenshots of your settings? Have you tried clicking Save & Optimize again, to redownload the fonts?

This is a site that we just launched so everything is using current versions (WP and all plugins). I’m running on a Mac and the issue occurs on Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. I am not seeing the issue on iOS mobile or tablet (v15.6.1 on both). Here’s a screenshot showing the plugin settings.

I see a plugin update was just released today. I updated the plugin and I’m still seeing the issue.

The theme has a similar “load fonts local” function and when enabled it does the same thing. So this is likely not an issue with plugin but rather the font and/or Google. I’ll see if I can find a similar font and see how that works. Thanks for your quick response!

Hmmm, okay. Interesting! Looking forward to your findings!

The browser(s) and OS on your system are up-to-date?
