The core functionality of the plugin has not changed; it should work the same as before, with just a few minor updates. The bulk smush feature depends on your WordPress loopback, as it optimizes images in the background. You need to ensure that your site can ping itself, as sometimes poor coding or a misconfigured firewall can block these requests.
