In my installation of WordPress I’m told that my php.ini file has a limit of 2megs for an upload. This tells me that the php.ini file is already installed and doesn’t need to be created. I’ve also heard that it’s supposed to be in the wp-admin directory. But where? And is it necessary to keep it such a deep, dark secret?

It’s no “deep, dark secret,” but the location of the php.ini file varies greatly depending on the hosting provider and server configuration (it’s part of the server’s PHP configuration, not a WordPress-specific thing), so you’ll need to consult your hosting provider’s documentation and/or support department about this.

Please find all you need to know about this here:

    http://php.net/manual/en/configuration.file.php

WordPress is an application of PHP, not PHP itself.

If unclear, find someone to help.

I thank you both for your assistance, and I found where the file is supposed to be on my host. However, I didn’t get the full path. Sigh.

I’ll have to find a migration plugin.
