[Theme: Arcade Basic] Sidebar in wrong spot on static hompage
-
I am having a problem with the front page. I have it set to a static homepage but the sidebar is just shoved underneath all the material on my homepage and not actually in the sidebar position. See here: http://www.dwellbeautiful.com
How would I fix that? Thank you!!!

If I’m correct, I think that’s just the way the theme is designed. If it doesn’t fit your needs, you can make a new template to use with the theme, or try a different theme.
Best luck,
RyanI don’t think this is the case since the designer of the theme intentionally states that the new update would enable you to have a sidebar on your homepage if you set your homepage to a static homepage. So there is supposed to be a sidebar there. Perhaps it’s just a bug?
Try sorting out some of your markup errors.
http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Validating_a_WebsiteHi,
I don’t have this theme, but am seriously thinking about purchasing it, so I am looking at what it is like;
As far as I can tell, your ‘sidebar’ on the ‘static’-homepage is in the correct place.
The homepage widget bar stuffed with amazon adverts takes up 100% of the width, and this comes before the container, and row with the primary <div> (main content) and secondary <div> sidebar.
You will need to create a *new* page template
I think that the sidebar being in the wrong place was just a bug – the theme creator put out a patch and this seemed to fix the problem. Topic resolved.
Hi ensooter, where is this patch or how do you apply it to your site?! My page has the same problem with the sidebar pushed under all my content at the bottom of the page but I can’t find anything about a patch anywhere. New to WordPress. Losing my mind trying to fix this.
Do you also have the Arcade Basic theme, @thegistoflife? I didn’t do anything to fix it – just updated the theme and it was solved. If you haven’t updated, I’d try that. But if you have a different theme then I’m afraid I don’t know how to help :/
Thank you for the quick response…I have the basic. I had just installed it so already had the most updated version. I found a strange way to fix it though – in the layout section, I changed “Main Content Width” from 100% to 83% and my sidebar magically appeared in the right position. It’s like using 100% for your content width doesn’t leave enough space so it shoves the sidebar to the bottom. Strange!
Thanks again 🙂 Resolved
Just wondering, where is this layout section? I can’t find it
I have the same problem, so much so that I’m making a new sidebar but it still won’t go to the right spot.
Hi Jayson – if you go to the “customize” link in the appearance section, layout is in there
Hi Ensooter,
Same problem here. Must be a bug. It was fine till now, didn’t change a thing and now mij first sidebar dissapears at the bottom of the page. De cirkel menu’s are no longer next to each other but under each other. Strange thing is that on my tablet everything is still fine. Seems that something wrong with the responsive design. My laptop had now the design of a mobile.
Hope the designer will soon fix this problem, cause I’m freaking out here.
