[Theme: Blaskan] Removed menu background

First, thanks to the creators of Blaskan for creating a very attractive theme! (http://phillipgresham.com)

I’ve been fooling around with my child theme and I wanted to remove the rounded-rectangle background for menu items. Unfortunately it seems that those will appear despite using a child-theme stylesheet…I needed to go into Blaskan’s style.css and comment out the appropriate entries in order for it to work how I wanted.

Obviously these changes will revert on the next update, so does anyone have any advice on how else I can “overwrite” the nav-menu entries in my child theme stylesheet?
