• Hi,

Currently my website runs on php 8.4 (ColorMag version: 4.1.2). I recently tried to upgrade to php 8.5 but it breaks the theme. It’s hard to describe what happens, but it looks like a mobile version is displayed on the desktop browser. Please advise.

  • Hi @wdejager,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The issue you’re seeing occurs because WordPress currently only provides beta support for PHP 8.5. Using PHP 8.5 can cause unexpected behavior with themes, including ColorMag, such as the mobile version appearing on desktop browsers.

Since ColorMag version 4.1.2 is fully compatible with PHP 8.4, we recommend keeping your site on PHP 8.4, which is stable and fully supported. This will ensure your theme and site function correctly.

    Hello Amrit,

I’m curious about the current status of PHP 8.5 support. WordPress states that it requires PHP 8.3 or higher, which suggests that 8.5 should be compatible. However, after upgrading from 8.4 to 8.5, the ColorMag theme still appears to malfunction and displays a mobile version on the desktop. Could you please provide an update on when this issue will be resolved? Is this a Colormag or WordPress problem?

    Thanks,
    Wiebe
