Theme change kills wp stats

I am using wp 2.6.3

Two days ago, I changed my theme to Vistered Little theme version 1.6

From that instant on, although everything else works very well, my WP Stats shows zero visitors.

I know this is not true because Google Analytics shows the usual numbers, and because I had a comment on a post yesterday, and because my friends at other locations have accessed it.

Any thoughts?
