• Hi,

I’m having trouble with the theme editor. When I click on ‘update file’, it deletes the content of the page. It doesn’t delete the file, just leaves it blank (zero length).

I’m running WordPress 1.5.2 on Debian Linux. I’ve got the permission of the theme files set to 666. I’m new to WordPress, so I’m at a loss to work out what’s going on.

    Thanks for your help.

  • I’ve never heard about a similar case. I’d try to delete the whole wp-admin folder and upload a fresh version of it: just to exclude that any file has been corrupted.

I tried that, and a reinstall, but I’m suffering from the same problem. Any other ideas?

Sorry, I am clueless. Anyway, it is not advisable to use the Theme Editor feature for major overhaul of a theme – because you leave your blog vulnerable by chmod 666.
It’s much better to edit your files on your computer and upload them when it’s done.

OK, not to worry. Thanks for your help anyway. I’ll just use a text editor instead.
