• Hello. I am creating an offline-copy of our website. We were able to successfully create the database part of the site, but the content (especially the themes) is the problem. I have a copy of the web content and imported everything into the empty site. The site appears with one of the default themes, but our website uses a custom theme and the content doesn’t appear within this custom theme.

What am I missing in this process?

    Thanks.

Ok, so if you use the default Twenty Fifteen theme, your content appears, but it disappears when you switch back to your custom theme?

    Hello, James.

Yes. That is correct. The company who made the site for us created the custom theme that connect to our database.

Hm, a theme that directly connects with the database? That seems weird.

WordPress should be connecting to the database, and theme just throws a skin on it.

Do you still have contact info for the folks who built it for you?
