Do you have any messages about broken themes at the bottom of the Appearance->Themes page?
No. Just three themes, the active one, and two others. But not any new themes
What exactly are you uploading? The zips or the individual theme folders? And where are you uploading them to?
I am uploading the folder within a zipped file which I downloaded.
I am uploading the folder to the the themes folder
wp-content- themes
the folder is identical in composition to those themes which are visible.
Can you try installing a theme from the Theme Repository in the same manner?
I have done this and I have the same problem
i HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE FILE PERMISSIONS OF THEME TO 777, AND THIS HAS MADE NO DIFFERENCE
I am having the same problem I think:
I recently added a WordPress server installation to my portfolio site to have a blog as well. Step one, of course, was to build a theme for my blog so that it matched my portfolio nicely. Now I have a theme that looks how I need it to, but I can’t seem to get it into WordPress.
I uploaded a folder of the files to wp-content/themes/[mythemename]/. Then, according to http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Using_Themes, I should be able to go from the Admin panel Appearance > Themes > “Add New Themes”. This seems straight forward, but Add New Themes just doesn’t exist. Anywhere.
Not sure what to do here.
@ianpaschal: It is considered impolite to try and highjack another poster’s thread. Please post a new topic.
@gearoidbuckley: it sounds to me like you’re not uploading the theme’s folder to the correct location on your server
