Theme is too over-controlling

    Loved the look of this theme would have been perfect for my needs as a game dev – the problem is the home page refuses to display my custom basic home page – I like the blog slider but wanted to have it lower in the page – nope! not an option choosing my custom home page does nothing basically forces you to have the slider as the home page without being able to choose where to place it – furthermore, I cant display the H1 title of that homepage which limits SEO on it as well – this is lousy, sorry. Time to remove the theme and move on- Was going to pay for the pro version until I realized how limited my options were with configuring the homepage layout.

    Hi @orenwp, thank you for sharing your feedback 🙏 and I’m really sorry for the frustration this caused.

    The homepage setup in the GamerNews, the child theme of MoreNews, can feel restrictive if the template isn’t switched. By default, it loads the editorial front-page with slider and widgets, but you can easily use your own page layout by changing the template:

    • Default Template → editorial layout with slider/widgets
    • Canvas Template → content only (no banners/widgets)
    • Page Builder Template → your content with the theme’s header & footer
